Our competitive edge football camp is a pre-season strength and conditioning camp for young athletes 8-14 who are looking to improve their athletic performance for specific sports. Our next camp will start on January 5th and continue through August 1st 2010. The program is Tuesday and Thursdays from 4:30 to 5:30pm.
Isn't my son too young to lift weights?
Somewhere along the way someone started a myth that kids can't benefit from weight training until they are 14 or 15. Nothing could be further from the truth. The most up to date research shows that children as young as 7 can greatly benefit from weight training.
Isn't lifting weights dangerous for young children?
When done in a safe, controlled and supervised manner, weight training is a very safe and effective way to increase strength and improve fitness. Every child is closely supervised when lifting weights and taught the correct way to perform each lift using very light weights at first and slowly increasing the weight only when they have mastered the proper form.
Does it work?
This will be our third year training children in our competitive edge football camps. We have seen tremendoues results with the children who have been in the program. We have gotten feedback from coaches and they have told us children who have trained in our program consistantly outperform those who did not. Coach Ennis has been a supporter of our program since it's beginning. Feel free to ask him his opinion of the program. If you have any further questions please contact us. We will be happy to assist you.
